Today is Lammas/Lughnasadh, a holiday marking one of 8 points in the seasonal wheel of the year. Lammas is often thought of as the first harvest. It is a time to begin the work of noticing and gathering the nourishing insights and still-developing lessons of the year. At Lammas we celebrate strength and all that has been so good about the summer, while also making time to honor some of the more challenging experiences of the year.
Grounding into these realizations, you become more resilient and more clear about your journey towards autumn and winter. The harvest is not a single day, it is a season. Likewise, this weekend marks beginning of a process on culling the wisdom from our life experiences, over the next several days and weeks.
Events of the year like COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter were huge initiations of consciousness that most of us are still processing. If you’ve been holding a lot of fear or stress in your body, then taking time to look deeply inward, to address your inner experience of the world will help to heal your distress.
I’m wishing you a blessed holiday, and I hope you will feel free to post any personal sharings specifically around Lammas, OR your goals for August, below.
